CASTLEWELLAN
Our Senior School in Castlewellan caters for some of our Post-Primary pupils, aged 11+.
During their Post-Primary years, pupils work towards a variety of accreditations and have access to a wide range of opportunities to help prepare them for life as an adult. Our Senior campus comprises of 4 classrooms, a sensory zone, and access to outdoor areas where we can deliver activities using a 'Forest School' approach.
College
Knockevin has a strong link with the South Eastern Regional College. The students attend every Wednesday to avail of the various courses on offer. Currently our students are covering courses in catering, art and ICT. Not only does this link assist in the delivery of our accredited modules, it provides a wealth of new experiences for our students and it enables them to integrate and socialise with students their own age.
Work Placements
The senior students have a range of job opportunities in and out of school that help them to develop work skills, gain confidence and experience working life.

Roots Café
Knockevin operates a café at our Senior School site. All pupils have the opportunity to access this facility during the week to learn cookery and life skills. On Tuesday mornings from 10-11.30 it is open to the public as ‘Roots Café’. We are delighted to have won the ECO-UNESCO Young Environmentalist award in the categories of ‘Wellbeing’ and ‘Further Growth’ for our work in establishing this café and growing our own herbs and vegetables. Our pupils gain valuable work experience from this project and staff love the delicious coffee and scones!
